So What We Do?

Linda Fleger-Berman, LICSW

Clinical Hypnosis
Hypnosis allows people to concentrate better and gives a person focused attention to help them use their minds more powerfully. It is a state of inner absorption. Hypnotic suggestions and communication may change aspects of physiological and neurological functions, according to the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Ms. Linda Fleger-Berman, LICSW uses clinical hypnosis to encourage mental imagery. She also uses it to suggest ideas to a client, to understand a client’s motivations, or identify past experiences and events that may be causing problems.

Psychodynamic Therapy
Ms. Linda Fleger-Berman uses psychodynamic psychotherapy to help her Boston, MA clients with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, panic and stress-related physical problems. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on self-reflection and self-examination — the psychological roots of emotional suffering.

Attachment-Based Therapy
Attachment-based therapy is focused on safety, education, containment, understanding, restructuring and engaging. The psychotherapist or therapist uses attachment-based therapy to listen to clients, learn about their emotions and teach them to calm the emotions without being self-destructive. It helps a psychotherapist manage a client’s resistance to change, anticipate set-backs and develop coping strategies. It is particularly useful in couples therapy, as it helps to teach the couple to work together to form a long-lasting, loving relationship.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is used by psychotherapists to help clients with psychodynamic, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral, body-centered and experiential therapies. It uses an eight-phase approach to address problems caused by past experiences that trigger dysfunctional emotions and beliefs.
